Statement Desk: local agent over your own bank exports, now that JPMorgan says no
Desktop app plus MCP server that lets a local on-device model reason over your bank CSVs. Prosumers pay.
Competitive · JPMorgan blocks agents, LFM2.5 ships

Next step
Build Chase and Amex CSV parsers plus a minimal MCP server this week, test it with LFM2.5 locally, and post the demo in r/personalfinance tools threads and r/LocalLLaMA.
Why now
What changed since the last Statement Desk card: Jamie Dimon said the largest US bank will not let outside agents directly access retail accounts, weeks after Meta's Muse assistant launched. The wall is now official policy at the top of the industry, not a guess. Exports and statements are still the user's own data, and a capable local agent model removes the privacy objection that kept people from pasting statements into chatbots.
What became possible
Liquid's LFM2.5-24B-A2B runs only about 2B active parameters and is built for fast, private on-device agents. A laptop can now do tool-calling over a year of transactions without sending anything to a cloud.
Two ways in
- Statement Desk app
Drag in CSV, OFX or PDF statements from any bank. The app normalises them into a local SQLite ledger and exposes an MCP server so Claude Desktop, OpenCode or a bundled LFM2.5 can answer questions like 'what subscriptions went up this year?'
- Customer
- Prosumers and freelancers whose banks block aggregators and agents
- Model
- $8 a month or $60 lifetime for parsers covering more than 3 banks; parsers are open source
- Parser pack bounty
Community-maintained statement parsers per bank, with a paid tier for small bookkeepers who need multi-client folders
- Customer
- Solo bookkeepers
- Model
- $20 a month per bookkeeper seat
Competition
There are plenty of hobby MCP servers over local SQLite finance data, including a Rocket Money CSV importer, a bank CSV expense tracker and generic finance SQLite servers. There are also MCP servers over existing apps like Actual, Firefly III, Monarch and Beancount.
Full competition notes (10 competitors)
There are plenty of hobby MCP servers over local SQLite finance data, including a Rocket Money CSV importer, a bank CSV expense tracker and generic finance SQLite servers. There are also MCP servers over existing apps like Actual, Firefly III, Monarch and Beancount. None of the search results showed an open-source MCP server that parses OFX and QFX files, and none that maintains well-tested parsers for many major US banks' and card issuers' CSV formats with normalization, duplicate handling and transfer detection. That parser layer is the most realistic opening for statement-mcp, though it's easy to copy and generic SQLite MCP servers already cover the querying part. On the paid side, Linggen, Finance Intelligence and expense-ai show demand for local statement analysis, but they are aimed at developers, depend on Ollama or a hosted tier, and are not signed one-click consumer apps with a bundled model and a verifiable promise of no network calls. A polished, sandboxed desktop app could still stand out. The main risks are that the searches found no 2026 evidence of banks blocking agents specifically, while Plaid reportedly now lets agents connect directly, that manual exports make it hard for users to keep data current, and that free open-source alternatives will push prices down.
- Quicken MCP Server (sgoley)
Imports QIF files into DuckDB and exposes them over MCP. It's a close analog but doesn't handle OFX or multiple banks' CSV formats.
- Linggen (CFO module)
Open-source Mac app that turns bank and card CSV or PDF exports into spending reports and strips account numbers before any model sees them. It works with Ollama or your own model endpoint and also has a hosted tier. This is the closest match to the desktop app idea.
- Finance Intelligence (Home Assistant add-on)
Local-first add-on, still in beta, that imports CSV, PDF and scanned statements. AI categorization is opt-in and can use a local model through Ollama or LM Studio.
- expense-ai
Open-source FastAPI and React app that runs on Ollama, parses PDF and CSV statements into SQLite, and lets the database do the arithmetic instead of the model.
- Actual Budget MCP servers (several)
Several MCP servers, including one advertising 62 tools, that give agents query access to a self-hosted Actual Budget ledger. They need the user to already run Actual.
- Firefly III MCP servers
Community MCP servers over a Firefly III instance covering transactions, budgets and tags. They need the user to self-host Firefly III.
- beancount.io MCP
Hosted MCP server that runs Beancount queries over a Web Beancount ledger. Ledger data passes through their backend, so it isn't local.
- Monarch MCP Server
Gives Claude access to Monarch Money accounts and transactions through an unofficial library. It depends on a cloud aggregator rather than file exports.
- My Finance MCP (xinrong-meng)
Stores transactions that Claude pulls out of uploaded documents and supports semantic search over them. It doesn't parse OFX or CSV files itself.
- Plaid and Sierra agent integration
Third-party blog, not checked against a primary source, reporting that as of August 2026 agents can connect bank accounts mid-conversation through Plaid Link. If true, it cuts against the premise that banks are blocking agents.
Checked 2026-10-14
Risks
- Banks change PDF and CSV formats often, so parser upkeep is the real job
- Plaid-style aggregators or Meta may cut deals with banks and make the workaround less needed
- Users may expect a live sync and churn when they find out it's manual export
Strong team fit; market pull and open space are the weak point (6).
