Portal Pull: computer-use agents that fetch remittances from customers' AP portals
Agents log into customers' payables portals and pull remittances for cash application; mid-market AR teams pay.
Crowded · Terra halves computer-use prices
Written for: Small startup team
Next step
Call the credit and collections manager at a $300M–$1B industrial distributor, found through NACM (the US credit managers' association). Ask them to list every customer portal their team logs into each week and the hours it takes.
Why now
Suppliers that sell to large buyers have to log into each customer's payables portal to see remittances and invoice status. That might be Ariba, Coupa or a homegrown site. Accounts-receivable (AR) automation vendors script the big portals and leave the long tail to clerks, because each script breaks when the page layout changes. A model that reads the screen copes with that variety, and halving its price is what makes a weekly run across dozens of low-volume portals worth paying for. This is a concrete fintech use for today's release, not a general computer-use play.
What became possible
GPT-6.1 Terra is a mid-range model built for computer use. It reads what is on screen and acts across apps, at standard API prices 50% below GPT-5.6 Terra. OpenAI's computer-use leads argue that faster execution and stronger safety controls now make these agents practical for enterprise work.
Three ways in
- Portal Pull
Scheduled computer-use runs against each customer portal. They return a remittance file matched to open invoices, with screenshots of each step kept as the audit trail.
- Customer
- Credit and collections managers at $300M–$1B industrial and food distributors
- Model
- Monthly subscription priced per connected portal
- Invoice Push
The same agent uploads invoices to portals that refuse email or EDI and confirms each one was accepted.
- Customer
- AR teams at the same distributors
- Model
- Per-invoice fee on top of the subscription
- Long-Tail Coverage
A white-label version sold to AR automation vendors to cover the portals their bots skip.
- Customer
- Mid-size AR software vendors
- Model
- Revenue share per portal covered
Competition
Portal Pull and Invoice Push are already features in HighRadius, Billtrust, Versapay, Tesorio and Cashbook, and Monto's entire product is invoice submission to AP portals. Both ideas are taken.
Full competition notes (10 competitors)
Portal Pull and Invoice Push are already features in HighRadius, Billtrust, Versapay, Tesorio and Cashbook, and Monto's entire product is invoice submission to AP portals. Both ideas are taken. The best remaining angle is the white-label Long-Tail Coverage idea. My searches found no vendor licensing portal connectors to smaller AR software vendors as an embeddable API, but Monto or the big suites could easily add one. Another possible angle is narrow vertical depth: covering the long tail of grocery, foodservice and industrial distributor buyer portals that get little attention, priced for $300M to $1B companies that find HighRadius too expensive. The screenshot audit trail sets the product apart but would be easy to copy. One longer-term risk: if agent authentication through payment networks spreads, as in the October 2026 Visa, BILL and Billtrust pilot, the advantage of bots that scrape portals with shared logins may shrink.
- HighRadius (AP Portal Remittance Capture)
Sells bots and APIs that log into customer AP portals, pull remittances and post them to the ERP. It alerts when credentials expire or portal navigation changes. Its pages claim 100+ or 500+ portals out of the box. This is essentially Portal Pull, though it is aimed at enterprises.
- Billtrust
Said in 2022 that its network connected to over 175 AP portals to cut manual cash application. It is also in an October 2026 pilot with Visa and BILL where agents complete payments in supplier portals.
- Monto
An AI agent for customer AP portals. It claims 500+ portals including Ariba, Coupa, SAP and Oracle, and handles invoice delivery, status tracking, PO management, rejection resolution and payment confirmation. This directly overlaps Invoice Push.
- Tesorio Supplier Portals Agent
An agent for Coupa and Ariba portals that matches invoices to POs and tracks invoice status. A third-party roundup says it also submits invoices and downloads remittances. Tesorio sells to mid-market companies.
- Versapay
Its AR platform captures remittances, including from AP portals, for cash application. It aims at the problem of managing many portal logins.
- Cashbook
A cash application module that stores portal passwords and profiles and downloads remittance data from AP portals.
- Auditoria SmartCustomer AR Remittances
AI bots that find, classify and extract remittances, mainly from email, then post them to the ERP with approval steps. It includes a Workday version.
- Tabs
A billing and AR platform that automatically submits invoices to selected AP portals such as Coupa and Ariba.
- Monk
An AR platform that covers invoicing, submission to AP portals like Ariba, Coupa and SAP Business Network, collections and cash application.
- Lunos
Described as having a portal uploads agent that submits invoices into Coupa and SAP Ariba.

Risks
- Holding customer-portal logins and handling MFA is a security burden, and buyers will ask about it first
- Some portal terms of service prohibit automated access
- A misread remittance can apply cash to the wrong invoice
- Large AR vendors can add computer use to their existing bots quickly
