Factory Call: live Chinese–English interpretation for small importers' supplier calls
Desktop app that interprets Mandarin–English supplier calls live on local hardware. Small importers and Amazon sellers pay monthly.
Crowded · Tencent releases simultaneous translation GGUF
Written for: Solo builder
Next step
Run the GGUF on a Mac or 24GB GPU, feed it a recorded Mandarin supplier negotiation, and measure lag and errors on prices and quantities. If the numbers hold up, post a side-by-side demo clip in r/FulfillmentByAmazon and Facebook sourcing groups.
Why now
Until now, live interpretation meant a human interpreter or a per-minute cloud service. With open weights in GGUF, a solo builder can ship interpretation with no per-minute bill. Small importers negotiating price and order quantities over WeChat or Zoom are an obvious buyer that nobody builds for. Our earlier voice cards covered TTS for authors and voice-agent turn-taking. None covered live interpretation.
What became possible
Tencent's Hy-SimulMT-30B-A3B does real-time, two-way Chinese–English speech-to-speech translation as the speaker talks. It outputs both text and speech and can clone the speaker's voice. Tencent shipped GGUF builds, so a model with 3B active parameters runs on a local machine. Separately, Lure-TTS shows a 600M voice model can be trained for under $200 and run 4x faster than real time.

Competition
Live Mandarin-English call translation is already a commodity. JotMe targets WeChat and supplier calls by name, and Transync uses the Chinese-supplier Zoom call as its example.
Full competition notes (13 competitors)
Live Mandarin-English call translation is already a commodity. JotMe targets WeChat and supplier calls by name, and Transync uses the Chinese-supplier Zoom call as its example. Chatterbox and Botista already ship the virtual-microphone design, and Zoom now translates Chinese natively. The Canton Fair has its own app translation plus rentable iFlytek devices. So Call bridge and Trade-show mode on their own would be me-too products. On the other side, SourceReady, Pietra and Buyer24 already turn written quotes into price, minimum order and lead-time tables. The opening is the combination. I found no product that translates a spoken WeChat or Zoom factory call and then turns that conversation into structured deal terms. Those terms would include tiered minimum orders, EXW versus FOB pricing, sample costs, mold fees and open questions, kept in a running record for each supplier. Running the models locally is a second possible edge, because no desktop competitor clearly does this. But privacy matters only somewhat to small Amazon sellers, and local models are likely to be worse at speech recognition and translation latency than cloud tools. So local processing alone probably won't win customers. A realistic entry would lead with Deal minutes as the paid product, with interpretation as the way in. It would need trade vocabulary tuned for sourcing and a link to the buyer's quote and purchase-order workflow. The risk is that JotMe or a sourcing platform like Pietra adds call extraction quickly.
- JotMe
Desktop app that translates live calls on your computer, with pages specifically for Chinese-English, WeChat and Zoom calls. It doesn't need a bot to join the call, and it markets itself for supplier, trade and manufacturing calls. Of everything found, it is the closest direct competitor to Call bridge. It is cloud-based, not local.
- Transync AI
Real-time voice translation with subtitles. It claims playback in under 0.5 seconds, and its own example is a Zoom call between a Chinese supplier and an English-speaking buyer.
- Zoom Voice Translator (native)
Zoom's built-in live voice translation supports English and Chinese among other languages, and each person sets up their own. This covers the Zoom part of Call bridge for free inside the platform.
- CAMB AI Chatterbox
Windows desktop app that installs virtual audio drivers and sends translated speech through a virtual microphone to any meeting app. It is the same technical design as Call bridge.
- Botista Meet
Desktop virtual microphone that translates your voice in real time for Zoom, Teams and Google Meet.
- Maestra live voice translator
Cloud tool for live Mandarin voice translation.
- My Translator (open source)
Open-source Tauri desktop app for macOS and Windows. It captures system or microphone audio and shows translations in an overlay without a middle server. I couldn't confirm whether it runs fully offline or supports Mandarin.
- Canton Fair official app
The fair's official app includes AI multi-language translation for chat, voice and video negotiations between buyers and exhibitors.
- iFlytek translators at Canton Fair
Dual-screen iFlytek translation devices, with offline support for some languages, are rented to buyers on site at the fair. This competes directly with Trade-show mode.
- ROJIN / Parrot.ai
iOS apps that say they do on-device, offline Mandarin-English speech translation. They are mobile-only, but they show that local Mandarin-English translation is already sold as a feature.
- SourceReady Quote Intelligence
Pulls price, minimum order and lead time out of supplier replies into side-by-side comparisons with landed cost. It overlaps with Deal minutes, but works from written quotes rather than calls.
- Pietra sourcing agent
AI sourcing agent for consumer-brand sellers. It contacts factories and summarizes each one's price, minimum order and production time.
- Buyer24
Pulls supplier replies from PDF, Excel and email into a single comparison table.

Risks
- The model is days old and quality on numbers and trade jargon is unverified
- Voice cloning raises consent and scam concerns, as Block's Dessa launch showed, so ship with cloning off by default
- Meet, Zoom and WeChat already bundle translation features
- A 30B MoE model at Q4 needs roughly a 24GB Mac or GPU, which shrinks the market
