Deck Gate: pitch-deck scores that only go down without evidence, for angel syndicates
Deck triage where an LLM cites evidence and code caps the scores. Angel syndicate leads and micro-funds pay.
Crowded · UK fund publishes evidence-gated triage design
Written for: Solo builder
Next step
Implement the three DealsFlow mechanisms, run them on 20 publicly posted startup decks, and publish the capped scores next to raw LLM scores to show the variance gap. Offer free access to syndicate leads in r/angelinvesting and on AngelList.
Why now
Most AI deck reviewers ask the model for a number, and that number swings between runs and inflates. A deployed, published design for keeping scores honest means a solo builder can copy the controls instead of inventing them. That is the only angle in a crowded field.
What became possible
DealsFlow, in use at a UK early-stage fund, has the LLM read the deck, cite evidence and rate each category. Code then combines the ratings and caps them, and it only ever lowers them. Stage-aware ceilings (78, 70 or 60 out of 100) limit how high a score can go without corroboration. The design targets score inflation, run-to-run variance and rationales nobody can audit.
Three ways in
- Deck Gate web app
Upload a deck and get an evidence-cited scorecard with capped ratings, plus a list of claims that need checking on the first call.
- Customer
- Angel syndicate leads on AngelList and similar platforms
- Model
- $39/month for up to 50 decks
- Shared rubric
The syndicate lead sets the categories and caps once, and every member sees the same scorecard.
- Customer
- Angel groups and small accelerators
- Model
- $149/month team plan
- Founder pre-check
Founders see which claims an evidence-gated reviewer would mark down before they send the deck.
- Customer
- Pre-seed founders
- Model
- $29 per deck
Competition
The risk is that this is a feature, not a moat. Any incumbent could add hard caps quickly, and syndicate leads have small budgets. Pricing per syndicate seat, or bundling with deal-flow software, matters more than the scoring itself.
Full competition notes (13 competitors)
This space is crowded, and an LLM scorecard on its own is already common. The founder pre-check is the weakest of the three ideas: Cogently, GrillMyPitch, Evalyze, 1752vc, SaaStr and DeckAnalyst already score decks for founders, often free. Investor-side triage is also taken, by DeckMatch, V7 and DeckAnalyst. The closest match is a Product Hunt launch called Evidence Gate that sorts pitch claims as verified, self-reported or unverifiable. Only one search summary described it, so check it before deciding. TechTruth.ai also checks deck claims against outside evidence. What I did not find is a product where code, not the model, enforces the caps. In that design a score cannot go above a ceiling unless there is cited evidence, so it can only fall when evidence is missing. I also found nothing that lets a syndicate lead set one locked rubric that every member sees. The ACA material shows angel groups already use formal shared rubrics, but the deal-flow tools that serve them, such as Dealum, do not appear to have AI scoring with evidence gates. A new product could still win on that combination: caps that are predictable and that a lead can audit, a fixed rubric for the whole group, and a list of claims to check on the first call. The most likely route is to sell to syndicate leads and angel-group managers, or to build it as a plugin for Dealum-style platforms rather than as a separate deck scorer. The risk is that this is a feature, not a moat. Any incumbent could add hard caps quickly, and syndicate leads have small budgets. Pricing per syndicate seat, or bundling with deal-flow software, matters more than the scoring itself.
- Evidence Gate (Product Hunt launch)
One search summary described this launch as an AI analyst for angels, VCs and accelerators that sorts each claim in a pitch as verified, self-reported or unverifiable and flags risks, with humans making the final call. That is nearly the same idea, under almost the same name. A follow-up search did not turn it up again, so open the listing before relying on this.
- TechTruth.ai
Checks the technical and AI claims in pitch decks against outside evidence such as founder LinkedIn profiles and company websites, and sells to VCs. It is in beta, and its own disclaimer says results are indicative only.
- Unbiased Ventures (DeckAnalyst)
Scores decks on seven VC dimensions with a peer percentile and an audit trail tied to specific slides, for $29 per evaluation. One listing pitches it to investors and another to founders.
- DeckMatch
Oslo startup that raised a €1M pre-seed in 2023 to automate pitch-deck analysis for VCs. It was in closed beta with more than 60 VCs at the time.
- V7 Go deal screening agent
An agent that screens and triages inbound decks for venture investors and ranks them against the investor's thesis.
- Dealum
Deal-flow, syndication and pipeline platform for angel network managers that is promoted through the Angel Capital Association. It is the existing home for shared group screening, which makes it the obvious place for a shared-rubric feature.
- presidio-hardened-angellist (open source)
A PyPI package described as a security-hardened deal-flow triage and due-diligence toolkit for early-stage AngelList syndicate deals. I did not check how it works.
- Cogently
Launched July 2026. Gives founders an Investor Score out of 100 across six weighted dimensions, flags the objections an investor will raise and rewrites weak lines. It competes directly with the founder pre-check idea.
- 1752vc Pitch Deck Analyzer
Free founder-side analyzer that gives slide-by-slide feedback and cross-checks the deck for contradictions investors would catch.
- GrillMyPitch
Founder tool that scores a deck 0 to 100 across 12 parameters, then runs a voice call with an AI VC.
- Evalyze
Gives founders an Investor Readiness Score, benchmarked against what it says are more than 8,000 funded startups.
- SaaStr.ai VC Pitch Deck Review
Free AI deck review from SaaStr aimed at B2B SaaS founders.
- Super Investor Pitch Deck Analyzer
Scores each category, such as traction, team and the ask, from 1 to 10.

Risks
- Crowded with AI deck reviewers, and angels are notoriously cheap
- Must stay triage, not investment advice
- Founders will worry about deck confidentiality
- The ceilings were tuned for one fund and may not transfer
