Agent Chargeback Kit for Stripe: dispute packets for purchases agents make through Link
A Stripe App that flags agent checkouts, stores proof the customer authorized them and drafts dispute replies. Small online retailers pay.
Competitive · Stripe Link agent transactions up 38x

Next step
Fork Stripe-Dispute-Shield this week and add a checkout hook that saves Link agent metadata and the customer's confirmation trail. Wrap it as a Stripe App in test mode. Find your first users in r/shopify and r/ecommerce chargeback threads, offering a free packet on their next agent dispute.
Why now
The earlier version of this card had Amex's rules but no volume figures. Now Stripe's own data shows the volume and that it lands on retail. There is a working dispute pipeline to fork, and World ID offers a ready proof that a human was behind the purchase. On the a16z show, Town's Jean-Denis Greze describes consumer assistants that spend money as the next product shape, so these purchases will keep growing.
What became possible
The change is volume, not technology. Stripe Link data shows agent transactions up 38x and payment volume up 20x in September. Retail leads, and the average spend is about $100, which is exactly the size where 'I didn't order that' chargebacks happen. An open-source repo, Stripe-Dispute-Shield, already gathers usage evidence and submits dispute packets before deadlines. World's AgentKit beta adds a signal that a real person stood behind the agent.
Two ways in
- Agent Dispute Packet (Stripe App)
At checkout, records Link agent-payment metadata, the customer's confirmation step and any World ID or email confirmation. When a dispute arrives, it builds a reply packet that explains the purchase was made by an agent the customer authorized, then submits it through Stripe's disputes API.
- Customer
- Shopify and WooCommerce retailers on Stripe that sell $50 to $200 items and have started seeing agent orders
- Model
- $29 a month up to 50 disputes, or 15% of recovered amounts
- Agent order dispute-rate report
A free read-only Stripe connection that shows a merchant how many of its orders came through agents and how their dispute rate compares with human orders. It brings in leads for the paid app.
- Customer
- Merchants deciding whether to accept agent checkout
- Model
- Free. Converts to the paid packet app
Competition
I found no startup selling exactly this kit, but the pieces are being built quickly. Mastercard has open-sourced Verifiable Intent, Visa reportedly stores the user's instruction with each agent purchase, Google AP2 defines signed purchase mandates, and the open-source ACK project has an open proposal for dispute evidence.

Established chargeback vendors (Chargeflow, Justt, Riskified, chargeback.io) and acquirers like Checkout.com are already publishing agent-evidence playbooks. The opening for a merchant SDK is turning these records into ready-to-file evidence for each reason code, because sources say agent disputes still come in under legacy fraud and consumer codes and support among processors is thin. That window is short: it closes if Stripe, Adyen or Checkout.com build capture into checkout, or if the networks expose the data themselves. The issuer-side classifier for flagging agent-made disputes looks emptier, since I found no product aimed at issuer or neobank dispute teams. Its risk is that network rule changes could make it a simple rules lookup; one blog says Mastercard has already added dispute categories for an agent overreaching and for a user denying the mandate. Incumbent dispute-software vendors could also add it as a feature. A new entrant's best bet is to be protocol-neutral, sitting between Visa, Mastercard and AP2 records and dispute workflows, and to move before the networks standardise it.
- Mastercard Verifiable Intent (with Agent Pay)
An open-source spec and reference implementation for cryptographic proof of what the user authorised an agent to do. It is built to share only the minimum data needed to resolve a dispute and is reported to shift liability to the agent operator when the agent exceeds its mandate. This directly overlaps the mandate-capture idea.
- Visa Intelligent Commerce / Trusted Agent Protocol
Reportedly stores the user's original instruction with each authorised agent purchase to speed up disputes. One source questions whether merchants will get access to that data.
- Agent Commerce Kit (ACK) ext-disputes proposal
An open-source protocol project with an open issue proposing a dispute-evidence extension for agent payments. It notes that no current reason code fits an agent buying outside the user's intent.
- Chargeflow
A well-funded chargeback automation vendor publishing a series on agent-dispute evidence and liability, and promoting upcoming Digital Commerce Agents. It is a likely fast follower on agent evidence packs.
- Justt
An AI chargeback representment vendor that is publicly framing the agent-commerce evidence gap. It is positioned to add agent evidence to its existing representment product.
- Riskified
A competitor's comparison blog reports that Riskified has added AI Agent Intelligence and a HUMAN Security partnership to vet orders placed by agents, alongside its chargeback guarantee and Dispute Resolve service.
- Checkout.com
An acquirer advising merchants to capture agent identifiers, mandate creation and approval events, and session and orchestration traces. Acquirers like this could build the capture into checkout natively.
- chargeback.io
A chargeback vendor with a merchant guide on agent disputes. It says these disputes fall under existing Visa codes 10.4, 13.1 and 13.3 and that keeping proof of the mandate is the unsolved need.

Risks
- Stripe is likely to add agent-dispute evidence to Radar or its disputes product itself. That is the biggest risk.
- Card network rules for agent purchases are still being written, so evidence that wins today may not win next quarter.
- Each small merchant sees few disputes, so revenue per customer is low.
- It depends on how much agent metadata Stripe exposes to third-party apps.

What happened next
- +7d · 17 Oct 2026 nothing yet. No products, funding rounds, acquisitions, or significant new press coverage specific to agent chargeback dispute kits were found after October 10, 2026. While OrderPad and other agent order capture tools exist in the Shopify ecosystem, they launched before the flag date. Industry discussion of agentic commerce disputes continues, but no new distinct product launches or funding events emerged in this seven-day window.
